Monday

11:15-12:00 Strength Training Class with Bobbi Culmo Komaromi (Shelton Senior Center Instructor) - (Starting February 13, 2017)  

Strength Training is a type of physical exercise specializing in the use of resistance to induce muscular contraction which builds the strength, anaerobic endurance, and size of skeletal muscles and also bone density.  Get stronger, leaner, and healthier. Also available on Wednesdays at 11:30 with Lizz Petrakis.

3:00-4:30 Water Color Painting (classes start after July 1, 2016) 

Come and join us for an instructional water color painting class and everyone goes home with their own creation.


Tuesday

9:30 am Quilting Class 

Join us in developing basic quilting skills and making new friends. Each year the Quilters make a beautiful quilt that is auctioned for the Center. 

11:45 Senior Café

1:00 Bingo 

 

Wednesday

9:30 to 10:30 Basic Computer Class   computer

Learn basic computer skills in this exciting class to help with your technological expertise.  This is class will be done on Windows based computers.  This is not a class for Apple Computer Products including the I-Pad. 

9:30 to 11:30 Painting Class       
 
Whether you are just starting out of are an accomplished painter, come spend some time with our painting group. 
Paintings are from the weekly painting classes offered at the Derby Senior Center.
                                                         


9:30 to 11:00 Yoga  

Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual discipline originating in India. Come join the Derby Senior Center and our certified instructor Beverly Corvino for this natural exercise class.

11:30 Strength & Balance     strenth training
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion, balance, and coordination.  Join certified instructor, Lizz Petrakis, for a total-body workout appropriate for any fitness level.  Hand-held weights (typically 1 or 2 lbs.) elastic tubing with handles, and a small, light- weight ball are offered for resistance.  A chair is available for seated or standing support.  Please try to arrive early as it takes a few moments to so set up your equipment. Also available on Mondays with Bobbi Culmo Komaromi.

12:30 PM Zumba Gold    

Grab your sneakers and head down to the Senior Center for an amazing work out session with Lizz Petrakis. Zumba Gold is a party on the dance floor while shedding pounds and toning your body! Beginners are welcome! Dance at your own pace!


Thursday

9:30 am Mah Jong  

Mah Jong is a four player game originating in China. It is similar to rummy, and is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation. Come down and join our group of players.

9:30 am and 12:30 pm Pinochle 

Pinochle is a trick-taking card game that is lots of fun. Come down on Thursday mornings and or afternoons to participate in our tournaments. 

10:00 am Knitting and Crocheting 

Under the instruction of Linda Joyce, come down and join our knitting and crocheting group as they make beautiful blankets, scarves, and sweaters. Many of these items are donated to local charities like the Griffin Hospital and Homes for the Brave. Participate in this wonderful group of giving friends. 

11:45 Senior Cafe

 

Friday

10:00 am Tai Chi      

Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art that is practiced primarily for its health benefits, including dealing with stress and tension. Come down and join our certified instructor David Chandler. 

10:00 am Arts and Crafts
Put your artistic skills to use and join the group in making unusual crafts that are sold in our upstairs lobby.

1:00 PM Zumba Gold
