The City of Derby cordially invites you to 9/11 Memorial Service.
The Hotchkiss Hose Company #1 will hold a Ceremony of Remembrance, this Friday evening, September 11, 2015, at 6:00pm on the Derby Green.
Past Fire Chiefs William Nicoletti and Gary Parker will speak at the event. Additionally, the announcement of newly purchased bricks that will be added to the walkway leading up to the monument will also be made.
In conjunction with the action of Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Mayor Anita Dugatto is reminding all citizens of Derby that U.S. and state flags should fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on in rembrance of the nearly 3000 men, women, and children who lost their lives in the 2001 terrorist attacks.
“As we remember the victims and heroes from that terrible day 14 years ago, we pause to honor the sacrifices of so many people who make our country the best in the world.” Noted Dugatto. “We hope to see a large turnout in honoring the 161 Connecticut residents who lost their lives that day.”
Mayor Dugatto has directed City Staff to carry out the suggestion of Governor Malloy (click here for Press Release).
