Offers of Donations in Support of Puerto Rico Relief Efforts

Date: October 2, 2017

In order to continue to aid in Puerto Rico relief efforts, at the direction of Governor Malloy, a system of connecting evacuees from Puerto Rico with available resources that have been collected here in Connecticut is being set up.  United Way 211 will be maintaining a list of donations offered. We are asking local Emergency Management Directors, as they become aware of donation drives in their communities, to fill out the attached electronic form and submit to 211. The form can be found at

Monetary donations continue to be the preferred  method of assistance.  Puerto Rico has indicated that it cannot accept in-kind donations that have not been specifically requested by the Commonwealth.

United Way 211 will be taking calls from evacuees who need resources, and provide them with the donations list from their area.  Therefore, if you receive a call from an evacuee or someone who is sponsoring an evacuee, please ask them to call 211.  This is a similar system to our Severe Cold Weather Protocol.

Thank you for your continued support of this critical effort as we work together to help the people of Puerto Rico recover from this devastating storm.
