Mission Statement

The Finance department’s function is to carry-out the decisions made by the City’s fiscal authority The Board of Apportionment and Taxation (BOAT). The finance department responsibilities are to administer cash management, accounts payable and payroll. To provide timely and accurate financial information to the BOAT and town management to assist in decision making. The cities taxpayers are our “customers”. People who come into the finance department are employees and outside vendors looking for (individual employee) or city financial information.

Finance Department Services:

  • Calculate the annual city budget and mill rate
  • Prepare year-end financial information for city audit
  • Prepare monthly budget vs actual expenditure and revenues report
  • Process weekly payroll and issue all disbursements in a timely manner
  • Provides Human Resource information and documentation regarding employee benefits for employees and their dependents
