Hazardous Household Waste Disposal

Hazardous household waste is generally defined as a household waste that is toxic, flammable, reactive or corrosive. Common hazardous household waste includes oil-based paints, thinners, pool chemicals, pesticides, mercury fever thermometers, and gasoline.

Derby Public Works urges residents not to dispose of  hazardous household waste with regular household trash to protect the health and safety of our citizens and enviroment.

The City of Derby along with Ansonia and Seymour will be sponsoring an annual hazardous materials collection to aid residents in the proper disposal of the type of items mentioned above.
